Job Summary  The Business Development Manager will manage and direct business development while enhancing the organizations overall reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. He/she builds market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. The ideal candidate has the responsibility of growing, development and maintaining new business relationships with potential clients such as architects, designers and developers..

 

Responsibilities

  • Build key accounts and secure work with clients that have consistent and significant annual spending budgets with a key focus on healthcare, K-12 Schools, and higher education projec
  • Lead all sales activities including client identification and penetration, identifying and pre-qualifying leads, working on procurement strategies, developing proposals, closing deals, negotiating contracts, and managing ongoing client relationships during construction operations to ensure the Company is the constructor of choice.
  • Assume responsibility for the complete sales cycle, from prospect identification through project initiation.
  • Ensure a consistent sales cycle in which new opportunities are continually identified along with a strategy to secure additional work
  • Apply consultative selling skills to develop attractive value propositions for key national clie
  • Leverage a strong network of clients and related firms serving the vertical build sector such as Architecture and Engineering firms that are serving the end custome
  • Identify key prospects, qualify opportunities, and develop a win strategy for each prospec
  • Work closely with operations to identify the resources required to secure work from clie
  • Utilize creative approaches to respond to client requests and close deals.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversight the coordination and logistics involved in the implementation and production coordination of business development and marketing initiatives
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual projects and positions
  • Locate or propose potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
  • Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.
  • Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.
  • Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Utilize personal and professional networks to learn of potential opportunities for business development

 

Responsible for oversight the coordination and logistics involved in the implementation and production coordination of business development initiatives

  • Work as a proposal team leader responding to RFPs, RFQs, award submittals Business Development oversight as a proposal team leader  responding to RFPs, RFQs, award submittals
  • Team leadership
  • Set goals and timeline for team deliverables
  • Update and support pursuit report log
  • Research of Pursuits
  • Analyze Proposal Requirements
  • Responsibility for Client Relations
  • Oversight of development and distribution of newsletter/ internal news blasts
  • Responsibility for coordinating outreach and minority and small business participation efforts
  • Function as company Government Liaison
  • Facilitate Public Outreach

  • Direct the preparation of the marketing plan
  • Plan and schedule marketing support activities to ensure that goals are accomplished and deadlines are met
  • Coordination and participate in promotional activities and trade shows
  • Create, develop, and execute innovative multi-faceted marketing programs to increase brand awareness, expand exiting market penetration and enter new markets
  • Manage proposal and interview teams process 
  • Participate in go/no-go decisions; assess each potential pursuit in regard to its ability to meet the firm’s strategic positioning and goals
  • Work with appropriate team members to create and execute a winning strategy
  • Ensure company website stays up-to-date and reflects the firm’s brand and marketing goals
  • RFP /RFQ/ITN Process Management
  • Proposal Requirement , RFP/RFQ/ITN Task Matrix Verification
  • Develop or Oversight Graphics for use in RFPs/Presentations

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in business administration, marketing/public relations, construction, engineering or related field.  Minimum 10 years’ experience and/or training.

 

Language Skills  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors..

 

Mathematical Skills  High Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations..

 

Reasoning Ability Very High Skills:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Motivation for sales, and demonstrated closing skills, experience with complex sales methodologies
  • Strong, prospecting skills, sales planning, understanding and selling to customer needs, territory management, market knowledge,
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills,
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite of Applications including word, excel and powerpoint
